The Central Energy Trust provides grants to community, sporting, educational, cultural and health organisations within the Manawatu/Tararua regions for projects which are energy-related and which will benefit the consumer's of the former CentralPower/ElectroPower energy companies. The range of organisations that benefit from funding provided by the Central Energy Trust can be seen by the assortment of photos displayed throughout the website.

The Central Energy Trust also provides up to 15 Bursaries each year to students to provide assistance with the cost of their tertiary education and training.

Community Grants

The last grant round was held in May 2018 with some $664,576 being approved to 55 organisations.

For the 2018 year, 22 applicants were awarded Bursaries totalling $106,000.

This year the Trust had a new award, "The Central Energy Trust 2018 Supreme Award". Due to the high level of applicants the Trustees had a tough decision, therefore awarding 2 Supreme Awards totaling $15,000 each. These were awarded to:
