The Central Energy Trust provides grants to community, sporting, educational, cultural and health organisations within the Manawatu/Tararua regions for projects which are energy-related and which will benefit the consumer's of the former CentralPower/ElectroPower energy companies. The range of organisations that benefit from funding provided by the Central Energy Trust can be seen by the assortment of photos displayed throughout the website.

The Central Energy Trust also provides up to 15 Bursaries each year to students to provide assistance with the cost of their tertiary education and training.

Community Grants

The last grant round was held in November 2017 with some $796,054 being approved to 38 organisations.

For the 2017 year, 24 applicants were awarded Bursaries totalling $47,000.

Applications for the 2018 year have now closed and are currently being shortlisted.

For the 2018 year we have a new award, "The Central Energy Trust 2018 Supreme Award". This will be presented to the outstanding applicant for the 2018 year. Trustees will consider academic results, leadership skills, sport and community involvement in making their decision.

The winner of this award will be announced at the Bursary Presentations in February/March 2018.

Applications for the 2019 year will open September 2018.
