Trust Deed Variation
The Central Energy Trust provides community grants, scholarships, and bursaries to eligible beneficiaries in the Manawatu/Tararua region.
The Trustees of the Central Energy Trust are asking for the views of the public proposed variations to its Trust Deed. Taking into account recent changes to the law of trusts in New Zealand, the Trustees are proposing to modernise the Trust Deed and amend its terms to provide more flexibility in how the Trust is managed in the future.
The Trustees are seeking public feedback on a range of proposed variations including increasing the permitted number of trustees, allowing trust meetings to be held by audio-visual means, changing the lifespan of the Trust, and extending the powers of the Trustees to better facilitate trust administration and bring the operation of the Trust in line with modern practices.
Feedback closes on 13th June 2025. The Trustees will then consider all feedback, to decide whether or not to amend the Trust Deed. If a variation of the Trust Deed is adopted, this will be implemented by way of a Deed of Variation signed by all of the Trustees, and will be made publicly available on the Trust's website.
